The European Blockchain Convention in Barcelona was an exciting and productive two-day event for Radix. As one of three diamond sponsors, Radix took center stage with a Scrypto Hackathon. Radix Founder Dan Hughes and RDX Works CEO Piers Ridyard were speaking on the Mainstage, and the Radix Community Council booth was showcasing Dan’s scalability tests to over 6,000 visitors.
The convention was attended by major industry players like Santander, ING Bank, Mastercard, Societe Generale, and BNP Paribas, providing an excellent opportunity for the RDX Works team to highlight Radix's institutional focus at the Radix Community Council booth or in 1:1 networking discussions.
Piers participated in an insightful panel discussion titled "Insights From the Frontier of RWAs and DeFi," alongside Guillaume Chatain from Societe Generale-FORGE, and Dr. Avtar Sehra from Libre Capital.
During the panel, Dr. Avatar Sehra, CEO & CPO of Libre Capital, mentioned: “Ultimately, infrastructures like Radix are probably going to be worth as much as Goldman Sachs or J.P. Morgan in about 10 years' time."

The EBC Scrypto Hackathon
The Hackathon was a significant highlight for Radix, with many community members flying in from around the world to participate and mentor those learning Scrypto for the first time.
The power of Scrypto was on full display, with over 150 developers from a wide array of countries and ecosystems building dApps in Scrypto for the very first time.
“I love that a lot of common things are similar to my own mental model. I really like the asset oriented model. The Radix VM is amazing” - Victor
After a brief introduction to Radix and Scrypto, the aspiring Scryptonauts jumped right into building out their ideas with their teams. By the end of the event, five teams emerged as winners.
The great news is that the winning projects plus another few Hackathon teams have decided to continue developing their dApps with support from the RDX Works team!
It feels super natural now that we understand the language better. We needed to understand that the assets are in the network level and not on the contract level - Diego
Here is an insight into the five winning teams out of the 19 submissions received and what they’re building:
1st Place: Bondefi.xyz ($10K XRD)
Bondefi.xyz is a launchpad designed to improve the token launch process. It features a pre-sale phase with custom pricing using bonding curves, guaranteed pre-sale goals with full refunds if not met (preventing the Token Generation Event), automatic DEX listing at TGE with locked liquidity, and immediate token utility. Trading fees from locked liquidity are redistributed through a "real-yield" staking program.
2nd Place: Radish ($5K XRD)
Radish is a multi-collateralized lending platform where users can back loans with tokens like XRD, memecoins, and stablecoins. By collateralizing with multiple assets, Radish reduces liquidation risk through diversification. If one asset loses all value, the remaining assets maintain the loan-to-collateral ratio, preventing liquidation. This approach offers users greater stability and security in their lending.
3rd Place: PAWNFT ($3K XRD)
PAWNFT is a decentralized peer-to-peer lending platform connecting NFT holders with liquidity providers. It allows NFT owners to access liquidity without selling their assets and eliminates the risk of automatic liquidations. By facilitating secure loans backed by NFTs, PAWNFT offers a valuable service to NFT holders seeking liquidity while retaining ownership of their digital assets.
4th Place: Solarix ($2K XRD)
Solarix is a Web3 platform transforming the renewable energy market by enabling peer-to-peer energy sharing and investment in solar power through tokenized solar panels. It connects solar panel owners with excess energy, consumers seeking affordable clean energy, and investors interested in green assets. By tokenizing solar panels into NFTs, investors can support renewable projects and earn returns as energy is produced and sold, fostering a decentralized and transparent energy market.
5th Place: radix.meme ($1K XRD)
radix.meme provides users an easy way to create and trade their own memecoins on Radix. Recognizing the popularity of memecoins, the platform offers a dedicated space for launching them.
Congratulations to the winning teams! Hackathons like the one at EBC Barcelona are excellent examples of how easy and fun it is to create something amazing with Scrypto. They're fantastic for bringing the community together and making magical things happen, driving the development of Radix and its ecosystem.
You’ll see more updates about these projects as they progress through the grants process and begin launching their dApps on Mainnet.
A special thank you to the Radix Community Council that organized and led this Hackathon and sponsorship at the European Blockchain Convention, and to the several Radix volunteers who supported each of the teams over the two-day event.
