It’s 2025, the wider industry is heating up, with everyone from governments, presidents, institutions, and mainstream news talking about crypto seriously again. There is still global uncertainty, and caution from many in the general public lingering from the Terra Luna and FTX crashes. However, sentiment is generally optimistic.
In Q4’2024, as part of ongoing efforts to better position the Radix network and ecosystem for success, restructuring began at the Radix Foundation to focus on its core mission: to accelerate the development, use, and awareness of the Radix Public Network and the ecosystem built upon it.
Although that work is still ongoing, that doesn’t mean progress stops. Everyone involved with Radix is working on initiatives already planned for Q1 while also preparing mid-term items - like this blog!
A Request For Input?
Radix is a community-backed project, and has been since work started in 2013. Generally speaking, public permissionless networks need a strong community, so being community-backed is an advantage. However, it does also have its downsides vs being a “VC chain”.
As Radix is a “community project”, one area that the Radix Foundation believes is important to improve on is ensuring that the community/ecosystem have the opportunity to input on how the Foundation allocates resources and what is being prioritized. That is the process we’re kicking off today.
Successfully getting input requires effort on both sides, No matter the choices made (or the situations encountered), it’s rarely a choice between clearly good and bad options. Instead, it involves weighing different benefits and risks.
That means as much as possible, informed decisions should be made, and people should have the opportunity to align with the decision or, at the very least, make an informed choice if they disagree with the plan.
Likewise, it’s important to focus feedback on realistic things.
The first step is requesting input on top-level priorities. Without alignment on the 'north-star' objectives, input on other high-level choices is likely to be overly broad and convoluted, as people may have differing goals.
Radix Foundation 2025 Strategic Priorities
Increasing DeFi Transactions and Capital Influx:
The Radix technology stack, bolstered by innovations like Radix Connect for Mobile and forthcoming MFA features, is robust. However, the real barrier on growth isn't technology—it's adoption. Getting more network activity, and specifically DeFi activity on the network is key. Incentivizing and driving this activity not only directly benefits the ecosystem, but also drives demand for key integrations like T1 exchanges and trustless bridges
Boosting Visibility and Awareness:
Visibility is a key driver of adoption. Past campaigns have built a strong foundation, but it's clear we need a sustained focus on current capabilities rather than always looking to the 'next big thing.' Radix needs to identify effective ways to showcase its existing strengths to a broader audience and capture mindshare for its USPs.
Increasing Community Engagement and Input:
Radix was born from community effort, and community involvement is a cornerstone to success. This year, the Radix Foundation wants to deepen this engagement by improving how community/ecosystem input is integrated into the decision-making process. How this is achieved will require refinement over time to balance action with debate.
Any strategic goals should have defined outcomes for success, so what sort of things should happen as a result of successfully focusing on these points?
- Increasing trade flow on DEXs, perps, bridges, Radix assets, money markets, market places, launchpads and other DeFi dApps - specifically the growth rate month on month
- Growth in total value of assets held in accounts and/or components. As wrapped assets are a core part of this, but are volatile themselves, this should be measured by both issuance and USD value.
- Increasing Radix’s ranking on key industry metrics such as CoinMarketCap rank, DeFiLlama etc.
- Radix Integrations/support from key industry partners (T1 exchanges, bridges, tooling, etc.)
- More active accounts (as measured and weighted by DeFi transactions)
- Significant increase of XRD holders and holders of other Radix assets
- Increase in “mindshare” - hard to precisely measure and easy to game. Broadly looks at organic mentions on social/press, engagement in community channels by unique contributors, and reach on content.
Next Steps?
If you’ve made it this far, you probably have some opinions, ideas, and views on the outline. That’s great - your feedback and input is essential.
While the Radix Foundation will mointor all channels to capture as much input as possible, please head over to this Reddit post as this will be used as the main discussion hub. Reddit is being used as others can then vote on ideas/thoughts as well as capture more long-form considerations and input.
Over the next week, the Foundation will be mainly looking for any strong trends, ideas, or objections that garner broad community support which will then be used to finalize the plan.
If significant changes are required, another request for input may follow the updated plan. Otherwise, we will proceed with the first delivery.
