The Babylon Booster Grant has been successfully awarded to Trove.
What is Trove?
Trove, a peer-to-peer (P2P) trading tool, was first announced in June 2023 under the "Runs on Radix" initiative and represents a significant advancement in Web3 user experience. Developed and run solely by its founder Ripsource, Trove embodies the unique bartering culture of Radix, facilitating direct user-to-user trades without intermediaries.
Since its launch, Trove has rapidly gained traction within the Radix community, exemplified by over 200 swap offers created and more than 400 unique users connecting to the dApp. The platform has facilitated the swapping of over 90 NFTs, signalling just the start of the NFT culture on Babylon that is set to flourish with the upcoming release of dozens of NFT projects. Complementing this growth, Trove has swiftly released multiple new features.
These include a search function for easier navigation of swaps on the Open Market, auto-generated collection pages for any Radix asset, and the innovative option for users to request specific NFTs as part of an open swap, further enhancing its user-friendly experience.
Trove is designed for the efficient and secure management of digital assets, from individual NFTs to complex combinations of NFTs and tokens. This is achieved through a user-friendly process of selecting, reviewing, and securing assets in a self-custody vault. Trading partners can then review and accept these proposals, enabling asset swaps in a single transaction.
Let’s take a look at the standout features of Trove:
Simplicity and Efficiency: Built with less than 300 lines of Scrypto code, Trove was created with a level of code efficiency unparalleled on other platforms like Ethereum or Polygon. This efficiency is a testament to the capabilities of Radix.
Open Swap Feature: A standout feature is the 'Open Swap' capability, allowing users to create trades with shareable URL links. This fosters a dynamic trading environment where traders can 'snipe' attractive deals in various NFT communities.
Cost-Effectiveness and Capacity: Trove outshines competitors in cost and capacity. It costs only 20 XRD per swap, significantly lower than similar platforms on Ethereum, where similar competitors like NF3.exchange charge over $20 per swap. It also exceeds the deal size limits of platforms like OpenSea and FoxySwap, offering swaps of 50 assets.
Versatility for OTC Deals: Ideal for token traders, Trove provides a solution for conducting OTC deals in Radix's DEX environment, helping users avoid market impact and negotiate slippage.
User-Friendly Trade Proposals: Users can easily create trade proposals, selecting and securing assets in a vault, empowering them to trade peer to peer without trusting or waiting on an intermediary.
Trove represents a significant evolution in digital asset trading, making transactions more accessible, cost-effective, and expansive. Its integration of innovative design with the Radix Engine's robust capabilities positions it as a leading platform for peer-to-peer digital asset transactions in the DeFi space.
So, what’s on the horizon?
Trove's immediate goal is to introduce the concept of P2P swaps to Radix users, focusing on distinguishing itself from typical marketplaces or DEXs. Emphasizing a period of experimentation, the founder is not currently fixated on specific metrics like the number of swaps or users. Key upcoming features include:
Auctions: Introducing a dynamic platform for the sale of digital assets.
Bid/Offer System: Users can list items and receive multiple, multi-asset offers.
Request Floor NFT Swaps: Offering more control and customization in trading strategies.
Batch Swaps: Enabling trading of hundreds or thousands of assets in a single deal.
Swap History Feature: Allowing users to track past transactions for improved management and analysis.
The Radix Advantage: A Founders Perspective
In the world of DeFi, the choice of blockchain or DLT can significantly influence a project's capabilities and future growth. For Trove, this choice was pivotal. Currently, as a one-person project, the founder of Trove is deeply involved in its creation and development; here, he provides unique insights into why Radix was selected as the foundation for this innovative dApp:
The Radix advantage for me has been being able to go from being just a non-developer with an idea, to a full stack developer with a fully launched web3 dApp in just under a year. When building Trove, all the tools I needed were handed to me on a platter and as I implemented my design, it all just worked. Without even realising it, I’d solo built a dApp that has functionality that puts other similar platforms with huge teams and funding behind them to shame. For me, Trove is just the start of my experimentation with the Radix stack and I can’t wait to explore all the possibilities that lie ahead.
