Since launching Radix’s first-ever grants program in December, the projects participating in this round have made incredible progress along their journeys to becoming core builders in the Radix ecosystem.
Each week RDX Works will dive into the team behind the project, the journey to their Radix revelation, and what makes their project unique. So, without further ado, here’s all you need to know about Ociswap: A user-friendly decentralized exchange.
What is Ociswap?
Ociswap is a decentralized exchange designed with user experience in mind. It aims to provide traders with a quick, seamless, low-cost trading experience. The platform leverages a combination of concentrated and protocol-owned liquidity to offer a capital-efficient protocol that minimizes the risk of impermanent loss.
Ociswap chose to build on Radix because they view it as an unparalleled solution that addresses many of the bottlenecks distributed ledgers and DeFi platforms face. The Radix Engine and Cerberus provide exceptional network capabilities, while Scrypto offers a superior developer and user experience. The team at Ociswap was deeply impressed by Radix founder Dan Hughes' nine-year journey to overcome the fundamental design flaws in contemporary blockchains and distributed ledgers.
Ociswap's goal is to build a powerful and inherently secure platform that can serve DeFi users globally, and they believe Radix's future-proof approach empowers them to achieve this. Radix's unlimited scalability, intuitive Scrypto programming language, and native asset support provide a significant advantage over competitors. Developing on Radix offers notable benefits, including a quick and efficient time-to-market and a lower likelihood of unforeseen bugs and vulnerabilities.
By building on Radix, Ociswap can focus on creating exceptional DeFi applications with a pleasant user experience, knowing that the platform's stability and scalability are secure.
What makes Ociswap different?
One of the standout features of Ociswap is its concentrated liquidity, which provides users with advanced liquidity-providing and rebalancing strategies. This enables experienced traders to optimize their liquidity, while the platform's active liquidity management offers casual traders multiple easy-to-understand strategies.
By striking a balance between these two types of users, concentrated liquidity is made more accessible to everyone. Additionally, Ociswap supports single-sided liquidity, which lowers the entry barrier for casual traders as they only need one token to provide liquidity.
To address liquidity mining mercenarism, where liquidity providers move from one platform to another seeking better opportunities, Ociswap utilizes protocol-owned liquidity to incentivize and retain liquidity on the platform. Each listed project can effortlessly deploy a protocol-owned liquidity component, enabling them to encourage liquidity sustainably for their token by repurchasing liquidity at a discount. Furthermore, protocol-owned liquidity helps mitigate the impact of impermanent loss as both liquidity and impermanent loss are owned by the protocol.
Ociswap also prioritizes the user experience, aiming to simplify it fundamentally rather than copying existing competitors. This results in a more accessible and intuitive platform for all users
In conclusion, Ociswap represents a significant advancement in the realm of decentralized exchanges. With its focus on concentrated liquidity, active liquidity management, protocol-owned liquidity, and user experience, Ociswap offers a powerful and innovative solution to the challenges faced by decentralized exchanges.
Who are the founders?
Ociswap was founded by Florian, Lukas, Marco, and Christoph, who bring a diverse range of expertise to the project.
Florian is a freelance software developer focusing on backend and machine learning. He is proud that Ociswap's cDEX is running smoothly without any consistency issues and attributes this success to the platform's failsafe design, which includes Scrypto buckets in the trading engine. Florian believes that Radix is currently the only network that has a solution for global mass adoption, making it the ideal network to build a superior decentralized exchange.
Lukas is an experienced online marketer and IT salesperson who has traveled extensively and used his experiences to develop new business ideas in the online marketing space. He was introduced to Radix through founder Dan Hughes' Twitch streams and was fascinated by the network's capabilities. Lukas is motivated to fulfill Dan's vision for Radix and is a co-founder of the Staatenlos Node, which is now one of the top 15 nodes on the network.
Marco is an entrepreneur who has founded several online marketplaces for creators to sell their digital content and services. He is active in the Radix community as the initiator of the German Telegram channel and as a consultant for various projects. Marco's motivation to build Ociswap stems from his desire to turn his ideas and concepts into reality on a network like Radix.
Christoph completed a bachelor's degree in Politics and Public Management and wrote his thesis on the potential of blockchain applications for governance. He has traveled to every country in the world and built several businesses remotely. Christoph is a well-known advisor for taxation and global legal aspects, particularly in the crypto industry. As an early Radix evangelist and token holder, Christoph has been instrumental in making the project accessible to many people.
How did the project get started?
The four founders of Ociswap met in the Radix German chat, which was launched by Marco. They all shared a passion for founder Dan Hughes' 10-year journey to make DeFi and Web3 mainstream. They became disinterested in the rest of the crypto industry after discovering the significant limitations in terms of scalability, user and developer experience, and smart contract safety. The opportunity to create a safe and easy-to-use smart contract on Radix sparked their interest in starting the project.
The four co-founders of Ociswap have diverse skill sets that complement each other, making them a perfect fit to start a sophisticated project. Ociswap's vision is to empower anyone to easily and securely exchange their digital assets wherever and whenever they desire, at a minimal cost. They have been active in the Radix community for a few years, with Florian Pieper already having a significant standing through his shared knowledge about comparing competing layer 1 projects.
Over time, the co-founders desired to play a more active role in the success of Radix and Dan's initial vision beyond their participation in the community as node runners, ambassadors, and dApp founders. They aim to build the biggest decentralized exchange in crypto and offer users and liquidity providers a way better experience than Uniswap, Pancake, and other competitors, supercharged with the power of the Radix network.
